Actor Jonathan Majors has been sentenced to one year of domestic violence counseling after being found guilty of harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, in New York City. The sentencing, issued on Monday, included a full protective order for Jabbari, with Majors facing a year in jail for any violations.
The fallout from Majors’ conviction on misdemeanor assault and harassment has extended beyond the courtroom. The incident, which occurred in March 2023 and was captured on camera, involved Majors shoving Jabbari back into an SUV during a heated argument on Canal Street in Lower Manhattan. The jury determined that Majors recklessly injured and harassed Jabbari, although not intentionally.
Majors, known for his roles in “Creed III” and Marvel Studios’ “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” faced professional repercussions following the verdict. Both Marvel and Disney severed ties with Majors, dropping him from future projects, and he also lost sponsorship deals.
Despite efforts by Majors’ attorney to set aside the verdict and acquit him of all charges, the motion was denied by the judge. Jabbari, who urged the court to hold Majors accountable, filed a civil suit against him alleging assault, battery, and defamation.
In response to the sentencing, Jabbari emphasized Majors’ lack of remorse and accountability, stating her belief that he remains a danger to others. Majors, however, did not respond to questions from CBS New York after the sentence was handed down.
While Majors was acquitted on two charges that required proof of intentional acts, he is appealing the conviction.
