Real Madrid secured a resounding 4-0 victory over La Liga contenders Girona on Saturday, with Jude Bellingham netting twice alongside goals from Vinicius Jr and Rodrygo. The win extended the home side’s lead at the league summit to five points.
Unfortunately, moments after scoring his second goal, England’s Bellingham exited the field due to injury.
Girona, who had gone unbeaten in 15 league matches since their previous defeat to Real in September, aimed to claim the top spot with a victory. However, they remain firmly in second place, while Carlo Ancelotti’s squad now boasts 61 points from 24 games.
The scoring commenced just six minutes into the encounter when Vinicius Jr capitalized on Fede Valverde’s pass, unleashing a splendid long-range effort for his seventh league goal of the season.
Bellingham then doubled Real’s lead in the 36th minute, converting Vinicius’ precise through ball with ease past Girona’s goalkeeper, Paulo Gazzaniga. He added another goal in the 54th minute, capitalizing on a loose ball inside the six-yard box.
Rodrygo completed the rout in the 61st minute, courtesy of Vinicius’ second assist, as he rifled a shot into the far corner. Joselu missed a penalty in the dying moments of the game, ensuring Real’s dominance.
