After years of evading the glare of the spotlight, the former One Direction heartthrob is now opening up about his romantic journey, shedding light on his relationships with supermodel Gigi Hadid and Little Mix songstress Perrie Edwards.
Reflecting on his past, Zayn reminisces about his younger self, navigating through a significant relationship from the age of 17 to 21, which culminated in an engagement to Perrie—a union he eventually called off in 2015. “I was oblivious,” he admits, “thinking I knew it all at 21, but truthfully, I was clueless.”
In the same year as his breakup with Perrie, Zayn bid adieu to One Direction, embarking on a new chapter with Gigi by his side. Yet, despite welcoming daughter Khai together, the relationship wasn’t meant to endure. “From 21 to 27, I was with Gi, and we had a kid,” Zayn reflects, “but I never really took the time to discover myself.”
Since parting ways with Gigi in 2021, she’s found solace in the arms of Bradley Cooper, while Zayn has embraced fatherhood, albeit with a humorous stint in the world of online dating, where he admits to trying his hand at Tinder, albeit unsuccessfully. “I’ve been accused of catfishing,” he laughs, “people can’t believe it’s really me.”
Now, at 31, Zayn finds solace in the serene rhythms of life on his Pennsylvania farm, content in his solitude and not eager to dive back into love’s unpredictable waters. “I’m genuinely happy being single for the first time,” he admits.
As he gears up for the release of his fourth studio album, Zayn finds fulfillment in his role as a father, viewing it as his paramount duty to set a positive example for Khai. “Ever since I became a father,” he reveals, “my sole focus has been on being the best version of myself for her.”
