A Houston Texans NFL player, Tank Dell, sustained a minor injury in a shooting incident in Sanford, Florida, according to a statement released by the team. Dell, 24, was treated and discharged from a hospital following the incident, which occurred overnight in Sanford, approximately 40 miles from his hometown of Daytona Beach.

The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office reported that 10 individuals sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting incident at a nightlife venue named Cabana Live. The incident, which occurred after midnight, took place in an unincorporated area patrolled by deputies. However, the Sheriff’s Office did not disclose the identities of the victims or confirm whether Dell was among them. Additionally, there were no reports of other shootings in the area overnight, according to Seminole city police spokesperson Bianca Gillett.

A 16-year-old boy was apprehended in connection with the incident, with authorities stating that the violence erupted following an argument before shots were fired. Fortunately, a security guard at the venue swiftly apprehended a suspect, who was then handed over to responding deputies.

The venue stated that the violence occurred during a private event and referred to it as an “isolated incident.” They emphasized their cooperation with the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and expressed their prayers for all those affected.

The Texans assured that they are in contact with Dell and his family, promising to provide further updates as necessary. Dell, who was drafted from the University of Houston, had an impressive rookie season in 2023, amassing 709 receiving yards in 11 games.
