Kate Middleton’s Birthday Tradition for Prince Louis Amidst Controversy and Health Concerns

The Duchess of Cambridge is likely preparing for a heartfelt tradition tonight to celebrate Prince Louis’ upcoming sixth birthday tomorrow (23 April).

Kate, 42, has previously shared her tradition of staying up until midnight to bake a cake for her children’s birthdays, a task she enjoys despite sometimes making more than necessary. She expressed this sentiment during an appearance on the BBC program “A Berry Royal Christmas with Mary Berry” in 2019.

However, amidst the anticipation of celebrating Louis’ birthday, Kate may also feel a degree of nervousness. Traditionally, the Royal family releases a new portrait of the Wales children on their birthdays. Yet, following the recent controversy surrounding a manipulated photograph released by Kensington Palace for Mother’s Day, any image of Louis will undoubtedly face scrutiny.

While Kate typically takes and releases photographs of her children herself, there’s speculation that she may deviate from this tradition to avoid further controversy. This consideration stems from the fallout of the Mother’s Day picture, which Kate acknowledged had been edited, prompting her to apologize for any confusion it caused.

Amidst these familial and public matters, concerns about Kate’s health have also emerged. Though she had been scheduled for planned abdominal surgery in January and was expected to resume her duties after Easter, it was revealed last month through a poignant video that she has been diagnosed with cancer. In the video, she expressed her optimism for a full recovery and appealed for privacy as she undergoes “preventative” chemotherapy.
