In his absence, Yariv Levin, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, will assume the role of acting Prime Minister, according to the statement from the prime minister’s office.
The hernia was detected during a routine checkup on Saturday night, prompting the decision for Netanyahu to undergo surgery, the statement added.
