As the eagerly anticipated IPL 2024 season prepares to kick off this Friday, both Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals have made significant changes to their squads.
Gujarat Titans have announced the replacement of Robin Minz with BR Sharath. Minz, a promising young wicketkeeper-batter, was acquired by GT for ₹3.60 crore at last year’s auction. However, following a recent bike accident, albeit minor, GT has decided not to risk Minz’s participation and has brought in Sharath as his replacement. Sharath, who hails from Karnataka, brings with him experience from domestic cricket, having featured in numerous T20s, First-Class, and List A matches. He joins GT for his base price of ₹20 lakhs.
Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals have made a change in their lineup by purchasing Tanush Kotian to fill the void left by Adam Zampa. Zampa, who had been retained by RR ahead of the auction, will not be participating in IPL 2024 due to personal reasons, as confirmed by his manager. With an impressive track record in previous seasons, including pivotal performances for Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup, Zampa’s absence will be felt. In his place, Kotian, who played a significant role in Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy triumph, joins RR for his base price of ₹20 lakhs. Having represented Mumbai across various formats, Kotian brings versatility and talent to the Rajasthan squad.
With these strategic squad adjustments, both teams aim to strengthen their lineups as they gear up for the highly competitive IPL 2024 campaign.
