In a commanding performance, India’s U-19 cricket team emerged victorious against the USA U-19 side in their final Group A match of the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2024 at the Mangaung Oval in Bloemfontein. The match concluded with India securing a resounding 201-run win.
India initially set a challenging target of 327 runs by posting a formidable score of 326/5 in their allotted 50 overs. Despite a shaky start with Adarsh Singh falling early, the team found stability through a robust partnership between Arshin Kulkarni and Musheer Khan. The duo added an impressive 155 runs for the second wicket before Musheer Khan departed after contributing 73 runs, courtesy of a dismissal by USA skipper Rishi Ramesh. Kulkarni went on to score a brilliant century, reaching 108, and captain Uday Sahan contributed valuable runs.
Chasing the formidable target, the USA U-19 team struggled to make an impact and finished their innings at 125/8 in 50 overs. Utkarsh Srivastava was the notable contributor with 40 runs off 73 balls. Naman Tiwari played a crucial role for India, claiming four wickets. Ateendra Subramanian managed to take two wickets for the USA.
India’s victory was highlighted by a comprehensive all-round performance, showcasing their batting prowess and bowling strength. The win solidifies India’s position in the U-19 World Cup, emphasizing their potential as a formidable contender in the tournament.
