Following a recent poll revealing Michelle Obama as the top choice to replace President Joe Biden as the Democratic party’s candidate for the presidential elections, her office has clarified her stance. As reported by NBC News, Michelle Obama has no plans to run for President, despite the anticipation from many of her supporters. Instead, she is actively backing the reelection campaigns of Vice President Kamala Harris and President Joe Biden.
According to Crystal Carson, Director of Communications for Michelle Obama’s office, the former First Lady has repeatedly stated over the years that she will not seek the presidency. Carson emphasized Mrs. Obama’s support for the reelection efforts of President Biden and Vice President Harris.
Furthermore, Obama’s adviser referred to her conversation with Oprah Winfrey from last year, where she expressed her reservations about entering politics. In a Netflix special, she highlighted the challenges of political life, stating that it must be a calling deeply rooted in one’s soul.
Michelle Obama has also voiced concerns about the upcoming elections, admitting that the state of democracy keeps her awake at night. Despite her popularity among Democrats, nearly half of those polled in the Rasmussen Reports expressed a desire for someone other than Biden to lead the party in the presidential race. Among the alternatives, Michelle Obama garnered significant support, along with Vice President Kamala Harris, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Governors Gavin Newsom and Gretchen Whitmer.
