Late Friday night, parts of Oklahoma experienced a 5.1 magnitude earthquake, as reported by the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake’s epicenter, situated just northwest of Prague in Lincoln County, Oklahoma, is a mere 50 miles east of Oklahoma City.

As of now, there have been no reports of damage or injuries in the region. Authorities are actively assessing the situation.

The U.S. Geological Survey notes on its website that earthquakes east of the Rocky Mountains, while less common than those in the West, tend to be felt over a much larger area. East of the Rockies, earthquakes of similar magnitude can have an impact over an area more than ten times larger than their counterparts on the west coast.
